Delighted to have been part of Ian Quick’s new 100 Voices series, comprised of extended conversations with practitioners doing interesting work. Not only am I glad that someone thinks my work is interesting, but having an opportunity to explain my views was a useful challenge in honing my message and, of course, continuing to refine my own ideas. We cover a lot of ground, including my thoughts on why Northern actors consistently dominate decision-making in development, and how the lack of accountability in the system stands in real contrast to virtually any other sector of work. As always, I’d be curious in your views: what are the root causes of power imbalances in development, and why is so little being done to acknowledge let alone address them?
If the only thing you’re interested in is finally understanding where I’m from, and how I got this accent, you’ll find this illuminating. Click on the image below to listen to the podcast (available in low bandwidth form as well).
Highly recommend you listen to all the other interviews at Rethink Fragility – I am in very good company indeed.
